Since he arrived in Europe in the middle of the 80’s, Paulinho Lêmos has become one of the most representative artists of Brazilian music on the Old Continent, specially in Cataluña and Spain where his regular appearances say a lot about his talent.
After six records, the latest one being produced by Arthur Maia and released in Barcelona, and appearances on the most famous stages like Festival de Jazz de Montreux in Switzerland, Museu Guggenheim in Bilbao, l’Expo'98 Portugal, L’AUDITORI in Barcelona, Kokkola Jazz Festival in Finland, Last Minute Open Jazz Festival 2009 in Croatia, etc, one thing is certain : his subtlety and warmth are a real present for the most demanding audience.
Paulinho Lêmos, guitar player and singer, was born in Brazil. He began his career in Rio de Janeiro with musicians like Fátima Guedes, Moacyr Luz, Arthur Maia, Rosinha de Valença, Marisa Gata Mansa. He participated to the 1st “Seminario Brasileiro da Música Instrumental” directed by Toninho Horta.
In 1988, his career started expanding internationally. He settled in Portugal and started travelling through Europe without ever giving up his far-off trips (Cuba, Venezuela, Cape Verde, au Sri Lanka…) dedicated to musical research. In Portugal, he appears on the most popular stages of jazz and world music.
He already recorded 6 CD’s, offering mainly compositions. The latest one, dedicated to samba, features, among others, Carlos Malta, Marcos Suzano, Kiko Freitas, Nelson Faria and Ney Conceição.
His new CD “Café com Gelo”, recorded in Brazil, Germany and Portugal came out in spring 2010, featuring Mú Carvalho, Kiko Freitas, Ney Conceição, Filó Machado, João Frade, Nelson Faria and Frank Rausch.
He has been living in Barcelona since 2005 and participated to the most important cultural events in Spain :
